For as long as I can remember, the dragonfly has been showing up in my life. Sometimes it’s been in small ways — a glimpse by the water, a trinket in a store, or even in art that catches my eye. Other times, it has shown up in the moments I’ve needed it most, like a gentle reminder that change is possible.
When I first started my healing journey, I had just moved to Jonesboro, Arkansas for a new travel contract. In the kitchen of the place I stayed, there was a glass-top dining room table with dragonflies wired underneath the glass. I remember standing there, looking at it, and knowing in my heart it wasn’t just decoration. It felt like a sign — a quiet confirmation that I was meant to be there for a reason, even if I didn’t fully understand why at the time.
The dragonfly carries powerful meaning for me. It represents transformation, growth, and lightness. It reminds me that even when life feels heavy, I can still rise, shift, and move into something new. Healing hasn’t been a straight line, and there are days where it feels messy and overwhelming. But the dragonfly reminds me to keep going — to trust the process of change.
I gave each of my kids a dreamcatcher for their rooms when they were young, but the dragonfly has always been the symbol that speaks directly to me. It’s a quiet, steady nudge that no matter how dark the season, there’s always hope, always beauty, always light waiting to break through.
As I continue this journey of healing into purpose, the dragonfly is a reminder that I’m still becoming. And maybe that’s the point — healing isn’t about “arriving,” it’s about allowing myself to transform, over and over again.
Until next time, may you find light in your own dragonfly moments.
